My Mom and Pop said they'd take me to the Circus when I was just a young lad
I couldn't sleep much that night 'cause I was thinking about the fun that I would have there
Lions and tigers, oh yes, and I was thinking that this would be a great day
The only problem I had was to decide would I have nuts or cotton candy?

I was so scared I could hardly sleep
Then the Ringmaster screamed
"Send in the clowns!"
And they started dancing around
Those clowns are such a scary bunch
